Welcome readers and fellow history nerds!

My love for historical fiction began in elementary school with a novel about Benedict Arnold’s wife and quickly expanded to the novels of one of the genre’s founding fathers, Alexandre Dumas. My obsession with history started just as early. Being the first person in my college graduating class to declare myself a history major (first quarter of freshman year—not that I was overeager or anything) didn’t happen by accident. Blame all those family trips to historical sites that I took as a kid.

I believe history is important not just because it teaches us about the past, but because it offers us deep insight into the present and into ourselves. After all, what makes us essentially human—the challenges we face, feelings we wrestle with, and dreams we aspire to—have remained remarkably consistent over centuries even as the world around us changes.
